Jeremy Schmidt: “Admittance” (Beyond the Black Rainbow, 2010)

For those who haven’t seen Panos Cosmatos’ 2010 film, Beyond the Black Rainbow, I’d advise you to proceed with caution — this is a scene lifted from the center of the film and while it’s not necessarily a “spoiler” it certainly gives you content you won’t get in the first hour. Having just seen the rather outstanding Under the Skin film adaptation by Jonathan Glazer last weekend, I was keen to revisit this arty-almost-to-a-fault science fiction  film on Netflix. It’s verrrrry sloooow, but it looks gorgeous. I liken it to Dan Flavin and John Carpenter having a baby in 1983.
