Rashad Becker: “Dances I” (Traditional Music of Notional Species Vol. 1, Pan 2013)

Rashad Becker has earned a reputation over the last couple of decades as the go-to guy for quality mastering, having helmed the controls for many a fantastic record pressed by D&M (including this one). I never expected him to debut with such a fantastically weird and incomparable batch of music, though. It has all of the writhing physicality of vintage David Tudor recordings, but it sounds at the same time incredibly new — the best of both worlds. Utterly bizarre and recommended listening.
