Sylvain Chauveau: “A Cloud Of Dust” (Singular Forms (Sometimes Repeated), Type 2010)

Sylvain Chauveau’s music is often instrumental, but with 2010′s Singular Forms (Sometimes Repeated), he returned to adding vocals to his pieces. The result is something stark and intimate, with his crystal clear vocal reminding me of David Sylvian (Japan). The piano is the only other featured star here, with minimal electronics and effects as it proceeds; I’m reminded as well by Ryuichi Sakamoto’s quietest piano works, including his more electronic collaborations with Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto). Beautiful.
