Moby: “All That I Need Is To Be Loved (Melodic Mix)” (1995)

1995 was a curious time for Moby, who likely was experiencing growing pains coming out from his Instinct Ambient and early rave days with a wildly varied and fragmented album on a major label (Everything Is Wrong). This remix of “All That I Need Is To Be Loved” eschews any of the punky, rock-inspired lyricism and energy of the original and instead is a hypnotic, melancholy trance track that’s supremely effective. As far as I know, Moby only included this on the quite good Everything Is Wrong 2xCD continuous DJ mix released after the album, which I still consider Moby’s last real hurrah as far as his connection to early rave and dance music is concerned.
