Bakradze: The Room / We Will Always Work It Out Somehow (2nd Drop)

Both tracks on this new 12" from Bakradze are quite good, though they’re fairly different. On the A-side is “The Room,” an aptly titled slab of four-to-the-floor warehouse techno, a nice dense groove practically guaranteed to move warm bodies. But it’s the flipside that is the main attraction here… its broken beat is a refreshing change, a lighter touch with its easy chords and laid back sensibility, all revolving around a filtered, looped vocal of the title phrase. Sweating away in my studio in a late summer heatwave, its sunny breeziness is exactly what I need — the sound of late summer recalling the warm glow of the sun setting just a little earlier than usual.
