Skinny Puppy: “Ovirt” (HanDover, Metropolis 2011)

I was a die-hard Skinny Puppy fan in my teens and 20s. They lost me a bit with The Process, and I couldn’t much get into the later albums that followed. But HanDover is an interesting one, I think. If nothing else it seems to continue Skinny Puppy’s trajectory of their 80s and early 90s material in that it is not particularly loyal to any trends and sounds unique to me. This first cut is one of the more pleasantly unusual ones.

I’m very interested to hear what their forthcoming album Weapon sounds like — it’s due out on Metropolis in May.
