An Example Why Beatport’s Current ‘Top 100′ Is Failing
The SoundCloud player embedded in the article is amazing.
I’ve always had a chip on my shoulder toward Beatport because they charge more than any other retailer per track and also have (or at least had, a few years ago, the last time I checked) a pretty strict policy requiring that any artist sell a hundred or more downloads in the first month or they get banned from submitting in the future. Way to champion independent music, guys — but your top 100 is an indication of how bad your audience’s taste is.
