Free download: Jumberlack & The Cobra: Photographic (SoundCloud)

I’m proud to present the latest collaboration between Charles Fenech (AngelTheory) and yours truly. Once a year or so we put our heads together and do a cover EP of a mutual favorite, and this time around it’s Depeche Mode’s “Photographic,” originally released in 1981 on their debut, Speak & Spell (Mute).

Charles starts it off with a loyal cover of the original, while my treatment that follows kicks it up a notch into future garage territory with staggered breaks, undulating synths and a touch of acid. As usual we have a special guest remix rounding it out, and this time around it’s Tom Shear of Assemblage 23. (In 2010, I handled on-stage music as part of AngelTheory, and we were the support act for Assemblage 23 in their North American tour. The J&TC name is actually an inside joke from our tour…)

It’s available on SoundCloud and Bandcamp as a free download. Check it out, and please repost and retweet this labor of love!
