MB: “Aktivitat I” ([Aktivitat], Dark Vinyl 1993)
Maurizio Bianchi began creating his own signature noise in the late 70s, hitting a stride in the early 80s with recordings like this one. He withdrew from music altogether in the mid 80s for over a decade when he went into religious seclusion, only to resurface in the late 90s with a whole new array of new releases. Tegal Records and Dark Vinyl released this one in the early 90s as an unreleased batch of tracks from Bianchi. I love the first track of [Aktivitat] because there’s a weird rock n’ roll groove at its core, despite it being a full-on noise blast. The rest of the album is more squirmy, less infectious, but still good stuff.
