Aphex Twin: “Next Heap With” (…I Care Because You Do, Warp 1995)

The closing cut on Aphex Twin’s 1995 album has the same leftfield wooziness of a few other cuts on the album, but it has a stateliness in its marcato synth strings and prolonged horn tones that feels like resolution to an album full of unexpected sounds and unusual timbres. Looking back on it relative to his discography, I’d say this remains one of Richard D. James’s most unique and interesting efforts.
