Current 93: “Raio No Terrasu (Jesus Wept)” (Dogs Blood Rising, 1984)

Before Current 93 was a neo-folk tribe of troubadours, David Tibet & his very different companions of the time created several slabs of dense and difficult listening. Dogs Blood Rising is in my opinion the finest and most focused of those experiments, and despite Tibet’s own dismissal of some of this older material, there’s such a dire urgency to it that I can’t help but feel as though there was some significance and personal importance attached to this music for him.
