David Tibet & Steven Stapleton: “The Sadness Of Things” (The Sadness of Things, United Dairies 1991)

Known respectively as the brains behind Current 93 and Nurse With Wound, David Tibet & Steven Stapleton have shared long careers in experimental fringe music since the late 70s. While Current 93 went the path of apocalyptic folk right around this time and Nurse With Wound continued along his own unique path of experimentation, the two have always seemed like kindred spirits to me.

There’s something almost over the top about this one, but it’s always been one I’ve enjoyed. Because I think an occasional full-blown dive in sadness is generally good for the soul. (The video is sort of who cares, but it’s nice to hear the full 30 minute piece streaming…)
